CASE STUDIES
INTRIALS RECRUITMENT AND SITE MANAGEMENT
STRATEGIES WERE INFLUENTIAL TO EXCEED CLIENTS’
EXPECTATIONS IN PIVOTAL IND PHASE III COMPLEX LUNG AND
PANCREAS CANCER TRIALS.
The successful enrollment of these two studies, both
with complex protocols and procedures, in a highly
sought-after patient population, bear the example of
our successful strategy in implementing Phase III
oncology trials in Brazil. Our expertise in oncology
continues to be further strengthened, with new ongoing
cancer trials in breast cancer treatment and prostate
cancer prevention.
Between early 2001 and late 2003, INTRIALS managed and
monitored in Brazil two mega global Phase III trials
in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and pancreas
cancer patients. Both protocols were designed to
evaluate safety and efficacy of an epidermal growth
factor inhibitor as measured by time-to-disease
progression.
Both studies started in 2001 and, because of INTRIALS’
successful unique recruitment and site management
strategies, patient enrollment for both studies was
met many months before deadline. This created the
opportunity to increase the accrual of enrolled
subjects in Brazil far beyond the initial target.
INTRIALS in Brazil led all other countries in both
studies. The NSCLC trial accrued 157 subjects in 12
months and the pancreas cancer trial accrued 16
subjects in 10 months.
